This past week, we had Rachel and Joey here performing genetic classification research on our adult tegus. Rachel is a graduate student and was enthusiastic and passionate about her work! We were happy to have them visit, and both Hector and Rachel learned a lot from one another. We are excited to learn the results of her study as she's been collecting data over the course of 3 years! One reason all my outdoor cages need to have proper covers. These beautiful birds are always flying around looking for an easy meal especially when I feed whole prey. This one was perched on one of my cages and let me get pretty close before flying up to the trees. It has been over eight years since I've been a vendor at a reptile expo. Rob from allaboutbeardeds.com was nice enough to share some table space to display my Blue/Chacon tegus. Good guy and produces some great animals. I had a great time just being around lots of people who shared the passion for reptiles. Nice talking with the adults and kids interested in getting a new type of pet.
Over the weekend we went to a place called Field Station Dinosaurs in Secaucus, NJ. It was a gorgeous day and spent it with family specifically my niece who loves all reptiles and of course dinosaurs. It was pretty cool how they made life size models and to see my niece go crazy every time she saw the next display, brought the kid out of me.
