With temps dropping at night, I built this small cage(3'x2'x3') I can use to put baby/juvenile lizards outdoors during the day to get some natural sunlight and bring them indoors at night. Also it is light enough to move it around easily. The designed I used was similar to one I saw Ty Park use for his baby iguanas. I used 2x2 treated wood, 1/4" hardware cloth sides, 1/2" hardware cloth bottom, and plastic panels for the sides. Materials were about $100, but I have some material left to potential build another cage.
Yesterday evening I went out to get some hay to add to the outdoor cages as I have noticed some signs of slowing down for the winter and I wanted to provide some more bedding. At night it has been in the 60s and currently only 73. As they settle in I may add some additional protection like plastic and some old carpets like Bert used to use. It has been over eight years since I've been a vendor at a reptile expo. Rob from allaboutbeardeds.com was nice enough to share some table space to display my Blue/Chacon tegus. Good guy and produces some great animals. I had a great time just being around lots of people who shared the passion for reptiles. Nice talking with the adults and kids interested in getting a new type of pet.
Over the weekend we went to a place called Field Station Dinosaurs in Secaucus, NJ. It was a gorgeous day and spent it with family specifically my niece who loves all reptiles and of course dinosaurs. It was pretty cool how they made life size models and to see my niece go crazy every time she saw the next display, brought the kid out of me.
