My first albino is progressing nicely. She is eating very well and still looking good. Hopefully this spring I can start to move her outside more.
Picked up these 2 baby Chinese Crocodile Lizards(Shinisaurus Crocodilurus). As usual I did loads of research on and off over the past year or so. First thing I needed was to decide what type of setup I was going to use. I normally like to look for used cages/tanks/enclosure equipment on Craigslist before having to buy brand new. Some things I choose to make sure are the right fit for the job like lighting and filtration which I buy brand new. In this case I found a used 29 gallon ReptoHabitat for $50, new filter around $50, and new lighting around $50. For the interior I used things I already had or could get on my property like the bamboo and wood. So far these little guys are doing great already ate some rain worms(earthworms). Speaking of rain worms I guess I'll be trying to grow my own since I ordered a pound of them. Hopefully they thrive so I can have a nice supply to feed these little guys.
Nice to see the hide holding steady temps with it dropping outside and being very windy. Even with the temps increasing right now the hide remains at 49 degrees. The inside consists of dirt, mulch and hay. Only tegu to come out yesterday was a male red, temperature was in the 60s. The reds seem to be the ones that consistently come out with mild temperatures. |
