I woke up early at 5:30 to ensure a very productive Saturday morning. I did some of my day job first thing, then threw on my spandex for a bike ride. Once I got home I immediately went to collect any tegu eggs that were laid and do my normal rounds. Then I got to work on making this new much needed incubator. This is my first attempt at building an incubator. As my others are getting full I had to rush to get this one up and running. The dimensions are roughly 3x3x2 and it is made out of black pvc. It can fit 12 XL SiM containers or 24 small containers. Last weekend I ordered supplies from Pangea which was great as they were able to deliver the heat tape/connectors and Herpstat 1 this week. I ordered the pvc from a local shop and had them do most of the cuts. I got the fans and sliding track from Amazon and the wire from Lowes. The acrylic used for the doors was from old used 1/4” tinted acrylic I picked up years ago that I thought it would look slick with the black incubator. Most of the day the temperatures have stayed steady but time will tell and I will add a WiFi thermometer to keep track. I may have some minor tweaks like wiring and maybe attaching the wire shelves but for now looks to be doing it’s thing.
We have collected several blue tegu egg clutches this year thus far. This is just an example of one of our females right before laying her eggs. As always I’m very excited to see the babies of our blue breeders. We paired some awesome looking blues together this season.
